The African American haircuts in 2009 have been much in the news. A very wide range of styles are seen in the media, not least due to the charming and cultured couple now residing in the White House. Hairstyles this year have been personalized and invidualized.

Some of the more visible styles have been an inverted bob that Rihanna has sported this year. This is a classy, chic hairstyle, with the hair cut short but the front adorned with bangs. Usually it is accented with a diagonal bang on the front. Another popular style has been the shoulder length hair stylized with streaks, curls, or just kept straight.
Some of the other styles seen have been the long length straight clicked back hair. Next is the resurgence of fringes in the hair scene, also popular is the simple layered cuts giving a lot of volume to the hairstyle. Youngsters have also been lining up to get the emo hairstyles and the scene haircuts.
